CloudTM is a service operated by Bouwhuis IT. In this policy, "CloudTM", "we", "our", and "us" refer to Bouwhuis IT. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use our backup service.

Bouwhuis IT is the data controller for personal data processed through CloudTM. Registration details are listed at the bottom of this page.

What We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to provide our service:

• Account information: Your email address for account management and support.
• Backup data: The files you back up using Time Machine. This data is encrypted.
• Usage data: Basic metrics like backup sizes and timestamps to ensure service reliability.

Your Backup Data

We strongly recommend turning on Time Machine encryption when you add CloudTM as a backup target. When encryption is enabled, Time Machine scrambles your data on your Mac before it reaches our servers, the encryption key stays on your Mac, and we have no technical means of reading what we store.

If you do not enable Time Machine encryption, your backup files are stored on our servers in the form Time Machine writes them. Our systems do not inspect backup contents, but only you can make them technically unreadable to us — by turning on encryption.

All traffic between your Mac and our servers travels through an encrypted tunnel, regardless of whether Time Machine encryption is enabled.

Data Storage

Your backup data is stored on servers located in the European Union. We use industry-standard security measures to protect our infrastructure.

Data Retention

We retain your backup data for as long as your subscription is active. After cancellation, we retain backups for 30 days before permanent deletion, giving you time to download your data if needed.

Third Parties

We do not sell your data. We may share data with:

• Infrastructure providers who help us deliver the service (hosting, CDN)
• Law enforcement when legally required

Your Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to certain uses of your data
